Millions of Americans grind their teeth at night. It sounds harmless, but it damages their teeth and gums, which can lead to stress, pain, and TMJ issues. Therefore, a night guard is the solution. If you are experiencing such a problem, you must use a night guard since it will protect your teeth from further damage and keep them healthy. These thin and transparent appliances are worn over the teeth to prevent grinding of the upper and lower jaws and are usually helpful to people suffering from bruxism or TMJ disease.

Soft, hard, and dual-laminated night guards are available. Individuals with mild to moderate cases of bruxism and TMJ can benefit from soft night guards, which are made of a soft, rubber-like material that prevents tooth erosion and improves comfort. Despite being less flexible than softer night guards, hard night guards are more effective at preventing tooth erosion in moderate to severe cases of bruxism. For light to moderate teeth grinding and jaw clenching, the Dual Laminated Night Guard is designed.

Submerging the night guard in water or solution when not in use will help ensure your night guard lasts its maximum life expectancy. Always rinse the guard thoroughly after use and clean it regularly with a soft toothbrush.
